Proofreading involves checking your work for potential mistakes and marking up the document with changes which you can review before accepting them. It will usually be done with a document produced in Microsoft Word using the Track Changes feature, but I can also markup PDF documents for you. The document will be checked for things like:
Spelling, including consistency of the use of UK or American English
Grammar
Punctuation
Style, including checking consistency against your required house style where applicable
Layout, including sentence and paragraph spacing
Tables and diagrams, ensuring they are correctly referenced in the text
Where I find issues that need correcting I will make that correction with Track Changes on so you can review. Where it is not clear what you meant I will add comments for you to review and make a decision on whether or not to change the text.
